The Minetalk Way

WHAT ARE WE TALKING ABOUT HERE (MT) is an online community hub designed to link stakeholders of the Australian mining industry. Our aim is to provide a space for miners from around the country with the opportunity to connect with one another. In order to enhance your experience at Minetalk we ask that you abide by our way of doing things, or if you want to get official; our Code of Conduct. We want you to have a good time and in order to do this we need your help to make sure that everyone has that same positive experience and plays by the same rules.

Our intent is to ensure that MT is continually a great place for you to communicate with your likeminded fellow miners. In order to do this we ask that you commit to this document and play by our rules. Any violation of The Minetalk Way may result in the ejection or banning of any user, as well as the removal or editing of posts. Be nice and keep it clean, that’s all we ask.

We here at MT are not responsible for any user-created content that is posted on the site. This includes, but is not limited to videos, photos, forums, chat areas, and / or other messages or communication facilities unless the contrary is expressly stated. We ask that you do your part and uphold this Code of Conduct. That means not encouraging anyone to break the rules and if you yourself do decide that your above our rules than we reserve the right to terminate or suspend your access without notice.

Our website is designed to be used by individuals who are 16 years of age or older so if you don’t cut it you can’t join it.

We all know everything needs a tweak now and then, so MT reserves the right, without notice to amend or change this Code of conduct. On your side of the fence, you agree to periodically review this document to make sure you continue to comply.


- We encourage every user of MT to treat their fellow user with mutual respect. We encourage our users to refrain from making comments or using our services to threaten, harass, stalk or abuse another user. Be courteous to others, if you disagree, then agree to disagree.
- Do not provoke another user by making inflammatory remarks or other comments that made offend a reasonable person.
- Use the forums for what they are there intended to be used for. Do not air your dirty laundry on our forums so if you would like to make a comment / message another user that is not appropriate for the forum then use our private messaging service.
- As we said before MT is not a space for private grievances to be aired. If there is a personal matter between yourself and another user keep it between the two of you and not on our forums.
- If a threat of any kind is made (either implied or explicit) it will be removed at the discretion of the MT administrators.
- If you make any defamatory comments or publish material that could be viewed as defaming another person, or which amounts to unlawful discrimination or the incitement of hatred then you, and only you, will be held liable for those actions.


- NOTHING ILLEGAL. MT will NOT allow any illegal activities to take place in any part of our website. You cannot use MT to publish, post, distribute or disseminate defamatory, infringing, obscene, or other unlawful information.
- Private details are meant to be private so do not post anybody else’s private details to our web site. This includes but is not limited to their real name, workplace, phone number, home address, car registration or email address. If you do this you will be immediately banned.
- Any mention and / or discussion and / or promotion of illegal activities will result in posts being removed and, in extreme circumstances result in be user being suspended from MT.
- Content that could be potentially harmful to another computer must not be uploaded to MT.


- As we mentioned earlier we do our best to make sure you have a positive experience when using Disruptive activities that encouraging the breaking of this document or the participation in illegal activity will push our buttons and not be tolerated.
- Some things we do want and some things we want to keep of MT. The following are nasty and we don’t want them: viruses, worms, Trojan horses, or bots for the use of scrolling, showing multiple screens, and other activities that disrupt online communication tools.
- Subliminal messages: definitely not allowed! If you’re going to say something say it. Don’t be sneaky.
- If you’re going to impersonate someone take it elsewhere. We want to hear from you as you.


- At MT we have worked hard to build good relationships with the people and companies in the industry. These people treat us with respect so in turn they are to be treated with respect at all times. Feedback is always welcome although we ask that you keep it constructive and not disruptive or abusive. This type of behaviour will not be tolerated.


- Not many of us like “spam” so we aim to keep our forums spam free. If you’re not sure what ‘spam’ is it includes sending identical submissions to multiple forums, posting one word replies, or posting gimmick replies. Keep it real, keep it on topic.
- We pride ourselves on having a web site where people aren’t subjected to personal advertising. Even if you do have a cool product or service we prefer you to advertise it somewhere else. If you advertise on any of our forums you are taking away from our paying advertisers so we’d be happy for you to discuss advertising options with us.
- If you are going to spam, MT reserves the right to ban any user at any time, without notice, from any or all aspects of MT.


- Whilst you are using you responsible and liable for all of your activities. If you post or say something you are accountable for it. You are also responsible for your own account which must not be shared with anyone else.
- Make sure you create your own backups of photos, documents and software. MT is not responsible for loss of access to, or deletion or alteration of any materials.
- We reserve the right, without notice, to remove any material that you post if it violates this document.
- If anyone posts a link to another web site MT is not responsible for the information that link might contain. If it is offensive MT reserves the right to alter or delete the account users post.


- Caution is the key. We strongly advise that you do not give your personal information to unknown people online. If you do this we do not accept any liability for the consequences. If you give unknown people your personal identifiable information and they use it in an illegal manner we, as mentioned above, do not accept any liability and encourage you to contact the police.


- We will do our best to make sure you have an awesome time when using If you believe that someone has breached this Code of Conduct we ask that you report them via the “>>>>>>>>>”button.
- If you believe that a piece of web site content has been deleted or altered in any way and you want to know why you need to make contact with us directly.
- If you feel that we have treated you unfairly in handling an issue, let us know and we will do our best to ensure that your voice is heard.
- When we make our decisions we use all of the points in this document as well as good old Common sense. If you break the rules you can expect to see / feel the consequences. Play fair and play nice on our web site.


- In posting photos and videos to the mine talk web site the user acknowledges that they possess all of the associated rights to the image and / or video including, but not limited to, the permission of the people and other thirds parties identifiable within the photo / video.
- If the user does not have the relevant permission of the people / parties identified in the image / video they accept full liability for any consequences / implications. Mine talk encourages it’s users to only post videos and photos if they have the express consent of those identified.
- If the administrators of mine talk are made / become aware that a user does not have the appropriate rights / permissions to post a photo and / or video the administrators reserve the right to remove the photo / video from the web site.
- Any content protected by intellectual property law, rights of privacy, or publicity or any other applicable law such as but not limited to, photos, software or other material must not be uploaded to MT without prior consent.


- Privacy you ask. Well you’re in luck. We have our very own privacy policy that we encourage you to review. The privacy policy is expressly incorporated into this document and forms the basic standards that we ask our users to abide by.
- MT will protect your privacy as per our privacy policy although you should be aware that MT may be required, by law or court order, to disclose certain information which it holds.
